Black Horse Hollow is a regenerative horsemanship facility and working ranch nestled in the forested hills of Forest Grove, Oregon. Founded on the belief that land, animals, and people all heal best when given space, purpose, and respect, we blend ethical, relationship-based horse training with sustainable agriculture to create a place where growth takes root—on every level.

Our ranch is home to a diverse herd of horses, heritage livestock, and a dedicated team committed to doing right by the animals in our care—especially the ones who’ve been overlooked or misunderstood. We specialize in colt starting, problem-solving, and gentle foundational work rooted in trust and clarity. Our methods prioritize long-term soundness, mental wellness, and a strong partnership between horse and human.
But Black Horse Hollow is more than a training facility.
It’s a community hub, a sanctuary, and a proving ground for what’s possible when we rethink the traditional ranch model. From pasture-based pork and egg production to timber stewardship, community events, youth programs, and the launch of our nonprofit arm, Magpie’s Purple Halter, our work stretches beyond the barn aisle and into the broader goal of rural resilience.
